Valentino Rossi to make WRC return in 2010.

MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi will make his fourth WRC appearance in round two of the 2010 championship, to be held in Mexico early March.

According to Reuters the Italian will drive a Ford Focus in the event.

"It is the last chance to race in WRC before new rules in 2011. I can't let the opportunity escape me," Rossi said in his Gazzetta dello Sport column on Wednesday.

Rossi's last WRC appearance was in the 2008 edition of Wales Rally GB, when he finished twelfth overall in a Ford Focus.

The 30-year-old's best WRC finish to date is eleventh (in a Subaru) in the 2006 Rally of New Zealand, while he crashed out early during his WRC debut in the 2002 Rally GB, driving a Peugeot.

Rossi - who can secure his seventh MotoGP title this Sunday in Malaysia - will remain with Fiat Yamaha for the 2010 MotoGP season, which begins on April 9-11 in Qatar.

Rally Mexico, which is round two of the 2010 WRC season and finishes on March 7, will not clash with any MotoGP tests; the second Sepang outing taking place from February 24-26, before the final pre-season test at Qatar on March 17-19.

Rossi has frequently suggested that he will dedicate more of his time to rallying when he final retires from MotoGP.

The current breed of WRC cars are being replaced by S2000-spec cars from 2011.
